Find a man and ditch your cat?

Feline friends make great companions. Loving, adorable, fairly self-sufficient, they are lovely pets.

However, some ladies devote too much time to their beloved moggies, and as such are having trouble finding a fella to shower with a similar level of affection.

That´s according to actress Thandie Newton, who believes that saying goodbye to Mr Fluffy is the best thing a single girl can do if she´d rather be spending time with a man – because the sweet pets can be used as substitutes for boyfriends.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: “If you´re single, the first thing you need to do is ditch your cat.

I got rid of my cat as soon as I met my husband, although, of course, I made sure it went to a good home. I realised that it was simply a man substitute and because I had got a real one, I didn´t need it any more”

Thandie, 35, is married to director Oliver Parker, and the couple have two daughters.

Surely you can have both cat and man, Thandie!?
