Healthy Foods, Healthy Life…

Balanced diet is the key

Balanced diet is the key

Feeling good about yourself is often one of the most important things to consider when searching for that perfect partner. To achieve this many people choose, among other things, to eat healthy foods.

Super-foods have received a lot of attention from the media, and are supposedly particularly good for us. However, according to the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) they will only be capable of making you healthier if you eat them as part of a balanced diet. Like most things…all things in moderation!

Anna Denny, Nutrition Scientist at the BNF, has suggested that there is actually “no such thing as a ´super-food’”, and that a person “can only have a ´super-diet´”

She said: “We often debate ´super-food´ and whether it´s a good or bad phenomenon. Eating an unhealthy diet but picking a few of these so called super-foods is not going to make you a healthy person. The good thing about them [super-foods] is that they do promote the message of eating more fruit and veg in general because they tend to be plant based.”

That media message is promoting the idea of eating more fruit and veg but the problem is that people are still by no means meeting their five-a-day”
